In this paper we propose a metaheuristic to solve a new version of the Maximum Capture Problem. In the original MCP, market capture is obtained by lower traveling distances or lower traveling time, in this new version not only the traveling time but also the waiting time will affect the market share. This problem is hard to solve using standard optimization techniques. Metaheuristics are shown to offer accurate results within acceptable computing times.  相似文献

The weeping fig, Ficus benjamina (Fb), is a relatively common indoor allergen. Many cases of perennial allergic rhinoconjunctivitis and allergic asthma caused by Fb hypersensitivity are not detected. These patients typically have proven sensitization to housedust mites and do not improve after avoidance of exposure (encasing) and specific immunotherapy. The number of Fb sensitizations is increasing in Germany, which can partly be explained by the cross-reactivity between Hevea brasiliensis (Hb) latex and Fb and the rapidly increasing number of mostly occupational latex allergies. But Fb itself is a potential sensitizer which is widely spread as ornamental plant in homes and offices. As relevant indoor allergen Fb ranks third after housedust mites and pets but before molds among our allergy patients. For diagnosis, prick-tests with Fb-latex seem to be more sensitive than in vitro-methods (RAST, CAPRAST). Fb plants should not be kept in the homes of atopic individuals or persons with latex (Hb) allergy.  相似文献

PURPOSE: To define, in a phase I study in relapsed non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL) and chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), the maximum-tolerated dose (MTD), major toxicities, and possible antitumor activity of bryostatin 1, a macrocyclic lactone. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Bryostatin 1 was delivered by 72-hour continuous infusion every 2 weeks to patients with relapsed NHL or CLL, at doses that ranged from 12 microg/m2 to 180 microg/m2 per course. Correlative investigations included evaluations of total protein kinase C (PKC) in peripheral blood and lymphoid differentiation in patient tumor tissue. RESULTS: Twenty-nine patients were treated, including three patients with CLL and 26 with NHL. Generalized myalgia was the dose-limiting toxicity (DLT) and occurred in two of three patients treated with bryostatin 1 at 180 microg/m2 per course. Myalgias were dose-related and cumulative, and often started in the thighs and calves, improved with activity, were somewhat responsive to analgesics, and often took weeks to resolve once taken off study. Six patients were treated at the MTD of 120 microg/m2 per course. Myalgia, headache, and fatigue were common. Hematologic toxicity was uncommon. Total cumulative doses of bryostatin 1 up to 1,134 microg/m2 have been administered without untoward toxicity. Eleven patients achieved stable disease for 2 to 19 months. An in vitro assay for total PKC evaluation in patient peripheral-blood samples demonstrated activation within the first 2 hours with subsequent downregulation by 24 hours, which was maintained throughout the duration of the 72-hour infusion. CONCLUSION: This phase I study defined the MTD and recommended phase II dose of bryostatin 1, when administered over 72 hours every 2 weeks, to be 120 microg/m2 (40 microg/m2/d for 3 days). Generalized myalgia was the DLT. Future studies will define the precise activity of bryostatin 1 in subsets of patients with lymphoproliferative malignancies and its efficacy in combination with other agents.  相似文献

OBJECTIVE: To review published data and to compare pregnancy rates (PRs) after culturing human embryos with and without glucose and phosphate. DESIGN: Comparison of results from various programs. SETTING: Assisted Reproductive Technology Program. PATIENT(S): Patients were enrolled in various studies. INTERVENTION(S): Human embryos were cultured with and without glucose and phosphate. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURE(S): Pregnancy rates after different techniques of embryo culture. RESULT(S): Some studies reported higher PRs in patients undergoing IVF after embryos were cultured in media without glucose and phosphate versus media with glucose and phosphate. One study showed that PRs were lower when embryos were cultured in media lacking glucose and phosphate compared with media containing glucose and phosphate. Some studies have also shown similar PRs with the two types of culture media. CONCLUSION(S): The PRs in IVF patients will not necessarily be enhanced if the embryos are cultured in media without glucose and phosphate.  相似文献

Can computer science learn from the social sciences? We focus our discussions on an undesired phenomenon that commonly affects software developers. Known as the Pygmalion effect, this phenomenon has been studied intensely by social scientists but almost entirely ignored by computer scientists. Pygmalion was a sculptor who fell in love with his statue, Galatea, brought to life for him by Aphrodite. In the 1960s, R. Rosenthal and L. Jacobson, two American psychologists, used this myth to name an observation of theirs: whenever someone evaluates something, the evaluator's expectations concerning the evaluated object influence the evaluation, in a way that tends to prove the evaluator's initial hypothesis. Intensive studies since then have confirmed this initial observation: virtually every evaluation process in which humans intervene is prone to the Pygmalion effect, and computer science is no exception: the expectations of computer systems evaluators can strongly bias the outcome of the evaluation  相似文献

AIMS: To investigate, in healthy volunteers, the relationships between the plasma concentrations (C, ng ml(-1)) of zabiciprilat, the active metabolite of the angiotensin I-converting enzyme inhibitor (ACEI) zabicipril, and the effects (E) induced on plasma converting enzyme activity (PCEA, nmol ml(-1) min(-1)), brachial and femoral artery flows (BAF, FAF, ml min(-1)), and brachial and femoral vascular resistances (BVR, FVR, mmHg x s ml(-1)) after a single oral administration of two doses (0.5 and 2.5 mg) of zabicipril. METHODS: The study was placebo-controlled, randomized, double-blind and crossover. E was related to C by the Hill model, E = Emax x Cgamma/(CE50gamma + Cgamma), fitted to the data of both doses simultaneously. RESULTS: We obtained (mean +/- s.d.) Emax = -99 +/- 1%, CE50 = 2.2 +/- 1.0 ng ml(-1) and gamma = 1.0 +/- 0.4 for PCEA, Emax = 55 +/- 26 ml min(-1), CE50 = 5.1 +/- 4.0 ng ml(-1) and gamma = 2.4 +/- 1.6 for BAF, and Emax = -45 +/- 10%, CE50 = 2.0 +/- 1.3 ng ml(-1) and gamma = 2.3 +/- 1.4 for BVR. The parameters obtained for FAF and FVR were similar to those obtained for BAF and BVR, respectively. The CE95 (C required to induce 95% of Emax) varies from 7 to 17 ng ml(-1) for haemodynamic effects. CONCLUSIONS: As zabiciprilat peak plasma concentrations average 20 ng ml(-1) after the 2.5 mg dose of zabicipril, this dose of the drug should be sufficient to induce optimal haemodynamic effects.  相似文献

The ratio of (Na+ +K+)-ATPase (EC 3.6.1.3.)isoforms with high and low affinity for cardiac glycosides was studied in heart preparations from neonatal, 3-month and 6-month old Wistar rats. Biphasic ouabain inhibition curves of (Na+ +K+)-ATPase activity indicated that the relative contribution of the high-affinity process decreased from 34% at 9 days to 23% at 3 months and to 10% at 6 months. Scatchard plots for [3H]ouabain binding were curvilinear and indicated that the relative contribution of the high-affinity sites (Kd = 0.1-0.25 microM) decreased by about one-half between 3 months (19-24%, N = 2) and 6 months (9-11%, N = 2).  相似文献

Hepatitis B virus (HBV) serum markers (HBsAg, anti-HBs, anti-HBc) and antihepatitis C antibody (anti-HCV) were prospectively followed in haemodialysis and CAPD patients. From January 1987 to January 1990, 185 patients on haemodialysis and 124 on CAPD were analysed. Among patients susceptible to HBV (69 on haemodialysis and 70 on CAPD), there were 17 HBsAg seroconversions on haemodialysis (0.19/patient-year) and 1 on CAPD (0.01/patient-year). A Cox proportional hazards model showed that haemodialysis treatment was the only risk factor significantly associated with HBV infection, thus suggesting transmission through the environment. Regarding hepatitis C, 83 anti-HCV-negative patients on haemodialysis and 46 on CAPD were followed. There were 18 seroconversions on haemodialysis (0.15/patient-year) and two seroconversions on CAPD (0.03/patient-year). Haemodialysis treatment was also the only risk factor significantly associated with a higher risk of HCV infection. The hazard ratio for HCV infection in haemodialysis patients was 5.7 compared to CAPD patients. Nevertheless, for one patient on CAPD treatment transfusions were the only possible source of HCV infection. In conclusion, both viruses were transmitted mainly through the haemodialysis environment, but the role of transfusions could not be excluded.  相似文献

Colour changes and chlorophyll degradation of frozen green beans (Phaseolus vulgaris, L., variety bencanta) were studied during 250 days of storage at −7, −15 and −30 °C. Chlorophyll a and b losses and colour Hunter a and b co-ordinates and total colour difference (TCDH) changes were successfully described by first order and reversible first order models, respectively. The temperature effect was described by the Arrhenius law. Disagreement between the colour co-ordinates and chlorophyll content was obtained. Therefore, chlorophyll content is not a good colour index of frozen green beans. The results emphasise that colour is a more important parameter to assess frozen green beans visual quality.  相似文献
